The Best Part Of The Emmys

By Beth in Lost, The Office, Hollywood, FOX, TV, The View, The Sopranos, HBO, pop culture, Steve Carell, reality TV, celebrity, Ryan Seacrest, The Emmys on September 16 2007

Steve Carell was the highlight of the Emmys as was seeing the cast of The Office before the show’s season premiere gets underway next week. The worst part, this year’s choice of host:

As a side note, we all get how big The Sopranos was as both a TV and cultural phenomenon, but does the show need to be nominated in the same category (Best Writing) for four different episodes? How well does that bode for the crew of Lost and Battlestar Gallactica - the only two other shows nominated.

Silencing Perez Hilton

Internet Gossip Blogger Extraordinaire Perez Hilton aka Mario Lavandeira aka the Gossip Gangstar is a well-known pop fixture on the Hollywood socialite/drag queen scene. He’s not only accrued notereity through his blog and the legions of people (myself included) who visit each day to catch a glimpse of “The Hills” Heidi Montag’s breast and mouth augmentation, but he’s even relatively respected in media circles. He’ll be playing guest host over at “The View” later this month and made a special appearance at this year’s Canadian Much Music Video Awards (think MTV Movie Awards minus the Paris Hilton purgatory of paparazzi) earlier this month.

So it’s with a heavy heart that I say that Perez Hilton’s copyright infringement violations have finally caught up with him - at least for the short-term. Hilton has been accused of stealing photos in four separate lawsuits initiated by eight different photo agencies. It was reported earlier today by Variety that the site’s webhost Crucial Paradigm stated that if they received one more notice of copyright violation against PerezHilton.com they would take the site down immediately.

It looks like Crucial stayed true to their word because today they took official action and pulled the site down. And unfortunately for those of us gossip mongers, as of 9 PM tonight, you still can’t access the site’s archive nor are any of the links to the actual posts functioning properly. There is a skeleton in place but not too many photos, unless you could the one that likens the wrestler Chyna to former star of “The Practice” and on-and-off Jack Nicholson flame Lara Flynn Boyle. Quite honestly, the similarities are a bit disturbing. But I suppose with enough plastic surgery, Neil Patrick Harris might actually appear straight on “How I Met Your Mother.”

Rosie Is Just Another Gay Californian At Heart

By Beth in Uncategorized, Entertainment, Politics, ABC, Dancing With The Stars, CBS, The View, pop culture, Amaldo.Com, media, celebrity, Rosie O'Donnell, gossip on June 20 2007

Ms. O’Donnell has made it clear that her top dream gig (post-”View”) would be as host of the “Price Is Right” now that the geriatric Bob Barker has grown too old or too tired to make sexual advances on his female cohorts. So Barker has retired and Rosie wants in, but is the rest of America ready to embrace a gay female host? Considering the roster of male hosts being considered, Rosie would be in the minority as far as testosterone quotient (she has more) and sexuality (ok, maybe not), but Bob Barker has made it known he wants Rosie.

Rosie’s professional move would also require a possible personal move from Nyack, NY where she lives with her partner and kids to LA where “Price Is Right” is filmed. S

Stay tuned for developing details.

Rosie’s Making More Headlines Than Donald On A Good GM Day

By Beth in Uncategorized, ABC, TV, The View, Rosie O'Donnell on May 29 2007

After the heated scuffle between Rosie O’Donnell and Elisabeth Hasselbeck, Rosie opted out of “The View” and we’re still mourning the cat-fights and she-power quotient.

So how does one of Times Top 100 Most Influential People constructively deal with her emotions? On her blog naturally….

ABC’s Fall Line-Up No Laughing Matter

By Beth in Uncategorized, ABC, Lost, TV, The View, Amaldo.Com on May 15 2007

ABC unveiled their Fall Line-Up yesterday. Comprised of six new dramas and two new comedies, “Grey’s Anatomy” spin-off “Private Practice” made the cut securing a Wednesday 9 PM. Wednesday is ABC’s ifiest night as it’s the only night with all new dramas debuting at each time slot and ”Pushing Daisies” and “Dirty Sexy Money” sandwiching “Private Practice.”

The James Patterson-written/Brett Ratner-directed “Women’s Murder Club” will air after “Men in Trees” (which I guess won’t be on perma-hiatus status by that point and hopefully Heche and her steamy co-star’s real-life affair won’t have fizzled by then) on Friday night. The premise of “Women’s Murder Club” is a bit “Desperate Housewives” meets the spawn of “Murder She Wrote” and “CSI,” but the show might be the best new pilot ABC has to offer. But who’s going to watch a show on Friday night on ABC? That hasn’t been done since Steve Urkel and Fred Savage’s little brother were on TGIF.

ABC’s Sunday night line-up is remaining the same (Why not? Nielsen LOVES it!) with “Brother & Sisters” rounding out the 10 PM slot. And as if “Sam I Am” could compete with “Heroes,” it’s filling the Monday night at 9 PM slot…Personally, methinks the only show that might be able to compete with a show like that is “Lost.”

But wait??? Where is “Lost” on this line-up? Does this mean the show is over? That there will be no more podcasts devoted to my gripe with the show’s writers??

No. Phew. It’s just being pushed back till January 2009 to make room for “Private Practice.” Early word is that “PP” is no “Laverne & Shirley” or “Jeffersons” for that matter.

Huh? Has ABC lost it?

Rosie Tackles Sex & TV But Still Finds Time To Be “Influential”

By Beth in Uncategorized, ABC, Female Empowerment, The View, celebrity on May 3 2007

Don’t cry too much for Rosie O’Donnell. She may be leaving “The View” when her contract is up next month and had her fill of Barbara Walter’s trademark scowl (haven’t we all?), but the talk show host has big, anonymous “TV” plans and just made Times‘ “Top 100 Most Influential People In The World

In an online panel discussing teen issues (no doubt, lecturing teens on abstinence) Rosie advised teens on the pressures of sex and the dangers of online social messaging.

Having checked out Ms. O’Donnell’s own blog, I think I can safely speak on behalf of teenagers everywhere when I say that there was never a better poster child for abstaining from sexual intercourse. Now if the federal and state legislators jump on the bandwagon, we just might have found Rosie a brand new career, TV plans aside.

Donald Trump’s Comb Over Not Slated For Spring Line-Up

By Beth in Uncategorized, Smut Advertising, food, Money, Advertising, TV, Donald Trump, wrestling, business, The View on March 29 2007

I got to hand it to the guy. Donald Trump may not be the reliable, yet quirky businessman he’d like everyone to believe, but the man sure knows how to pimp himself for a piece of billboard. First he fights with Rosie O’Donnell, then being the busybody she is, Barbara Walters gets involved, and before you can say, “Joy Behar isn’t the only one who loathes Elizabeth Hasselbeck,” Trump is betting his luscious locks off to the fate of a wrestling match.

Trump’s hijinks i.e. the last-ditch pathetic attempts to gain some sort of attention/notoriety is playing itself out. Donald needs to know by now that no actually cares about business anymore. The economy sucks so we’d rather forget about money. And focus on food, dancing, and pretty shallow girls. Although we do find it very curious that billionaires like to shave each other’s heads (and who knows what else). The fact is maybe Trump isn’t quite ready to face the music yet. And maybe we’re not either because when it comes down to it, we really do want Umaga to win.
