WHO You Don’t Know WILL Wipe You Clean

Disclaimer: A post in which I rant about the injustices of the world and engage in some much needed therapeutic self-pity.
BostonNow.Com has an interesting post on Massachusetts State Representative Paul Casey’s ordeal with idenity theft and the bad credit it left him with when his thief racked up $20,000 in credit card charges in Casey’s name. The article speaks to the heightened measures companies are taking now to secure identity and prevent such occurances from taking place. I feel for Casey or anyone who has their identity stolen, but if the guy had $20,000 limits on his cards, he’s not doing too badly in the credit dept. in the first place. I’m not trying to undermine his plight here however.
I will say though from recent theft experience that the very companies you entrust with your safety and security and pay premiums to to protect your assets oftentimes don’t do their job. Those same (insurance) companies then come back to you and don’t give you any return on your loss and not only are you expected to pick up the pieces and make your way thru the crisis, but you have to do so with the least financial scarring as possible. And there will be financial scarring and the insurance company will try to screw you in the end.
My final thoughts on all this: Life isn’t fair and the world is ripe with vultures who will take advantage of your loss. Just make sure you’re well-equipped to take them on.
