Yesterday I wrote about me developing an eye for Showtime’s Dexter. Today I read that I’m not alone. According to Reuters, CBS CEO, Leslie Moonves, said that CBS is planning to air edited version of Dexter, because of content shortage, due to the ongoing writers strike. Reuters also points that CBS is the leader in the forensic crime drama genre with the “CSI” franchise.
On a different note, the latest issue of the Rolling Stone Magazine covers the Led zeppelin reunion. Last night a got a chance to go over the piece and it is highly recommended if you are a fan of the band. Here is a taste of what Jimmy Page had to say about the reunion: “It was immediate, Everybody went in with a will to work and to enjoy it. It was a delight.”
Can’t belive I’m writing about this again, but it is confirmed that Robert, Jimmy, John Paul, and Jason will play in memory of Ahmet Etegun , Atlantic Records founder. Tickets will cost 125 British Pound about $250 and will be distributed by ballot. Due to past disapointments, I dare not think about a tour option.
All of a sudden the rumors come up again, rising from deep like a glitter of gold, sneak on you like a black dog, but when you prepare your self for a day of celebration, you find out it was just another breakdown in communication, and you are left dazed and confused, asking your self how many more times you will believe this crap about a Led Zeppelin reunion?
Where to begin, I guess with a recap of last week’s R&R Triple A Summit in Boulder, CO. It was great spending time with all of my fellow music loving radio folks, label reps and promotions guys and girls. Nothing like being around a bunch of people who share the same passion, drive and enthusiasm for music and spreading its gospel to eager ears around the globe.
I am such a big fan of this conference that I would attend even if I wasn’t in the business. It makes me believe in the power or music and shows me that real radio is alive and well. BIG THANKS to R&R Triple A Editor John Schoenberger, President/Publisher Erica Farber and everyone involved in putting on this wonderful event.
I must admit, I was a bit irked by some of the grumblings I heard about this year’s lineup. Yes, there were no “headline” names so to speak but the quality of the acts that performed spoke for itself and what the convention lacked in “big names” it more than made up for with credible acts putting on memorable performances. And after all, aren’t we the people who make the stars of tomorrow? Aren’t we the ones who give the up and comer a chance and let our listeners hear their music in its infancy? Aren’t we the ones who don’t forget the artists after the rest of the industry has thrown them on the scrap heap even if they are still making incredible music? If you were one of the ones bitching about the lineup, I think you oughta check yourself! Read More…
After Robert Plant denied the rumors of a Led Zeppelin reunion, and braking many fan’s heart by doing so, Reuters now reports that Van Halen (and I certainly bag the differ,) will reunite with original singer David Lee Roth, and will go on a US tour. Van Halen will announce the reunion next week in a news conference in Hollywood.
P.S.
My deepest apologies to all those Led Zeppelin fans who’s feeling were rightfully hurt by the mentioning of their beloved band with Van Halen.
After all the excitement and the high hopes of a Led Zeppelin Reunion, many sources all over the Internet are quoting band singer Robert Plant as denying the talkes about a reunion and saying: “If there was one , then there wouldn’t be enough doctors to support it!” Plant allegedly spoke about Led Zeppelin on a press conference for Rockwave Festival in Greece. It’s not the first time fans hearts are broken after false rumors about the band coming back together. Come on Robert, there is a whole generation that was too young to go to a concert back in the 70’s, and besides… even the Spice Girls are making a comeback.
The Rolling Stones are having some bad luck when it comes to random fatal accidents while on their Bigger Band world tour. Two workers in Madrid were killed yesterday while taking apart a stage post-concert and two other stage hands were injured during the incident. The BBC reports that three of the workers fell 10M from a metal beam and landed on the fourth guy.
Tragic spotlight aside, walking ticking time bomb Keith Richards haul is ass back on-stage night after night after going a few hits with coke might be enough to jar anyone’s sensibilities. Let’s hope this image wasn’t their last.
I spent a big part of my youth fantasizing about going to a Led Zeppelin concert. I spent hours listening to a 24 minutes Dazed And Confused on my old record player, and thinking to myself, how much I would give to see Jimmy Page doing his psychedelic guitar thing live. Not understanding how the fuck does John Bonham does what he does, especially in Moby Dick. Watching John Paul Johns reading a bedtime story to the kids when he is called to duty- a tour. And as I grew older the dream faded and faded and was almost gone until a couple of days ago, I found out that there is a good chance that the greatest rock band in history will reunite for a world tour!!!! Yes, they are doing a tribute show for Atlantic Records, and then, with Jason Bonham (son of the late drummer) on drums they are on their way!!! I don’t have any details on when and where, but I have a world map and a calendar…
The biggest announcement in the history known to man will be given next week. The Spice Girls are coming back! Yes, Sporty, Posh, Baby, Ginger and Scary will reunite to make a new album and a tour. Now that David Beckham is coming to Los Angeles to play Soccer for the Galaxy, his wife Victoria was a bit concerned whether people would recognize her or not. Now she doesn’t need to worry about it any more, she will be Posh again. I always find these showbiz coincidences somewhat odd… Any way, if Gery Halliwell who was the first to leave the band in 98′, decides she doesn’t want to join the party, fear not, Katie Holmes would kill for a chance to be in the band, and to sing and perform alongside her idols.
To hear the names Eric Clapton, Mick Jagger, Stevie Nicks, Crosby, Stills, Nash & Young and above all Led Zeppelin in the same sentence, makes every Classic Rock fan’s eyes to shine. Now how about if they were all to be in the same room?
According to Reuters, a private memorial will take place tonight in NY for the late Atlantic Records founder Ahmet Ertegun. Bette Midler will host the evening. Ertegun immigrated from Turkey, and co-founded Atlantic in 1947. He died last December at the age of 83.
The Smashing Pumpkins have decided to reunite. It must be the season. First The Police back in February, now Billy Corgan and Jimmy Chamberlin. No word yet on whether original band members James Iha and D’Arcy will join Corgan and Chamberlin on stage when they start their tour in Paris in May.
Smashing Pumpkins album, Zeitgeistwill be released in July. This will be the Smashing Pumpkins’ first concert since 2000. And boy, does it ever take me back…
