Amazing Race Recap For 12/9: Where We Learn Competition Hurts Feelings, But Pink Clad Goths Make It All Worthwhile

Rules are rules, people. You must read the fine print if you expect to do well on CBS’s Emmy award winning reality show, The Amazing Race or the almighty Aussie Phil will send you back to the beginning. Yes, I’m talking to you Nate and Jen. And while we’re on the subject, how about that breakdown the two of you have been battling the past two episodes? I believe the words, “I hate you with a passion,” “You’ve turned into the ugliest thing I’ve ever seen in my life,” and “I never want to be with you ever again” have been used. I’m impressed, but only because you’ve managed to prove my Amazing Race theory wrong. Very wrong.
In my twelfth season of watching duos race around the world, I’ve had but one solid, never waiving theory: The couples that manage to stay on top support one another, while those in danger of being eliminated fall apart. But Nate and Jen aren’t just falling apart. Their disgust with each other is holding strong, even despite their comfortable third place finish.
They could learn a thing or two about relationships by watching Kynt and Vyxsin, the loving goth couple who express their union by sporting his and her pink leopard t-shirts and using cute little epithets like “pink kitten” and “my gothic action hero.” But before I speak too soon, previews for the next episode show the usually supportive dark duo in a scuffle. Is this a battle for the black eye liner or did Kynt smuggle a little bronzer into his makeup bag? Whatever it is, the hot pink claws will come out. And if they’re marked for elimination, perhaps my theory will prevail after all.
