Amy and her Blake

Our dear Amy has canceled her UK tour by her Doctor’s order…, and said that she can’t do it “without my Blake”. Her Blake (her husband- Blake Fielder- Civil) is now in prison and waiting to see what will happen with his case. Meanwhile, NME reports that Amy’s dad, Mitch Winehouse say that his daughter is considering entering rehab to take care of her drug problems. And I say Yes Yes Yes.

New To America- Amy Winehouse’s Frank

By ariel in Uncategorized, Amy Winehouse, British, Classic Rock, Music, New Album, Frank on November 21 2007

Amy's new album- FrankAmy Winehouse’s new album Frank was originally released in the UK in 2003. As it often happen with British musicians, it took some time for Amy to get some recognition here in America, but now everybody knows who she is (”There is no such thing as bad publicity, except your own obituary…Brendan Behan) and Frank is now being sold in the US as her new album.
Howard Cohen from Kansascity.com wrote that Frank is “a more stripped-down, jazzy effort… finds the edgy British singer rivaling greats including Ella Fitzgerald, Eartha Kitt and Lauryn Hill with her silky, smoky voice.”"Winehouse’s voice is a jazz instrument in itself, constantly riffing around, exploring and enhancing blues chords while staying fully anchored, seemingly unable to hit a sour note. Those who would blanch at comparisons of Winehouse to timeless jazz and blues chanteuses surely haven’t heard her sing.”
I’m totally on the same page with Mr. Cohen here. Amy Winehouse’s voice belongs on that list.

November Snow

“To appreciate the beauty of a snow flake, it is necessary to stand out in the cold.” (No idea who said it found it on Google…)  Sometimes it snows in November, and for someone who grew up in a very warm place, it’s always some sort of magic. So conflagrations to Boston’s first snow of the season!!!

Mike Vick goes to jail

Michael Vick is going to do some time for his Dogfights involvement. And even though he will receive his sentence only on December 10, and he is yet to know how long he will stay in jail after pleading guilty to the charges, he surrendered himself to the U.S. Marshalls Service, so he can cut some time from the end. When he is sentenced, Vick faces up to five years in prison. Maybe it will heal the urge to see animals kill each other.

Godsmack Led Zeppelin Cover Ain’t That Bad

Godsmack- A horrible name but a good cover

To cover a Led Zeppelin song is like turning a Stephen King’s book into a movie- many have tried, but only a few have succeeded to have the same impact as the original. Godsmack (what a horrible name,) a hard rock band from Massachusetts just released a cover version to Good Times Bad Times, the 1969 Zepp hit. And (with the words of my dear wife,) I have to say, they are doing a pretty good job. Not since Minimal Compact gave their on interpretation to Immigrant Song in the mid 80’s, that I’ve heard a good Led Zeppelin cover version. And don’t talk to me about Tori Amos, cause her covers all sounds just the same!

Amy Winehouse is missing her husband

Amy’s family are so freaked out about the possibility that their daughter will do something stupid after her husband, Blake Fielder-Civil got arrested, and because she is after all, Amy Winehouse, that they had to call the police when they couldn’t get a hold of her last night. “Amy’s family are petrified she’ll do something stupid. They know she’s very low at the moment and misses Blake terribly.” A “source” told the Daily Mail.

On better days? Amy Winehouse and husband Blake Fielder-Civil

Jennifer Love Hewitt Got Ghosts

Jennifer Love Hewitt- If ghosts could talk...

TV ghost whisperer, Jennifer Love Hewitt, called a real one to once and for all rid her Los Angeles home of two ghosts. Apparently, she freaked out when they started turning the lights on and off… She later described how it worked: “This woman came over, talked to the ghosts, asked them if they were ready to go into the light and sort of crossed them over.”
PR-inside reports that Love Hewitt is kind of obsessed with superstitions and convinced of the presence of spirits on the set of her CBS TV show Ghost Whisperer.

The Family Guy Dillema

Seth MacFarlane and the Family Guy Crew

I have a dilemma. On one hand, I really don’t like Seth Macfarlane. He is very annoying , and when I watched him last week in that preview to the Family Guy 100 episode I almost made me vomit (I’m sure he’ll be thrilled to hear that.) In short, a serious A- hole. But on the other hand, I still think that Family Guy is one of the best shows on TV. Each character has its importance, and the absurd is always in place, in bad taste but very funny. So long live Family Guy, and Seth, try not to show yourself too much OK?

Why The Island Called “Lost” Should Perish Forever

LOST Emily
I’m a lover scorned. A meerkat whose mother has been viciously killed by a snake leaving me to make my way thru the wild without any well-trained defenses or line of attack. I’m Rambo without any ammo and Schwarzenegger without the Kennedy connections and steroids that made him.

I’m also fed up with the writers’ strike and feeling pangs of loss that can best be expressed thru the myriad of metaphors above.

And how it could potentially affect my January, no wait my FEBRUARY? That’s right, Lost fans will have to wait till February now to see just where things left off post-Looking Glass. Given that the show’s executive producer is claiming that only 8 shows have been written out of the regular 16, and that the final 8 will tie up all the loose ends presented in the first 8 (and that I happen to LIVE for resolutions), you can understand why the writers’ strike is getting me down.

I can do without Leno and his glib comments to Halle Berry, grimace at Tina Fey as she takes to the picketing stands (she is an executive producer after all) and bands with her fellow starving artists (?), but seeing writer/creator/executive producer Damon Lindelof lament the plight of writers (and himself) not getting their/his share of the moola generated by all the new media around makes me wanna lose the one I’m with and start a new relationship.

We understand fame and new-found fortune is enough to even make a decent man turn to debauchery. But really, how long do the producers at Lost think that they can play with their fanbase before their numbers of viewers start to diminish?

St. Michael

Michael Jackson on the Cover of Ebony25 Years to Thriller, Michael Jackson just before he went nuts...That’s how it goes, from public enemy No. 1, to a saint. That’s what is happening to Michael Jackson these days. As we approach the 25th anniversary of Thriller, the album who broke any record in the record book, Jacko is back in business with an exclusive interview after 10 years to “Ebony” magazine. Harriette Cole, editor of “Ebony” magazine said on The Today Show that: “The thing that was most impressive to me about him (M.J.) is that he is so loving and generous to everyone, we photographed in the Brooklyn Museum. It was the guard he made sure he spoke to, the elevator operator, everybody who was there was someone he wanted to treat with kindness.” Rumors about a new album were also thrown in the air.
In 1982, as a little kid, in the land of far far away, I had a small cassette player with Thriller on it. Michael Jackson just before going nuts was my hero. I can’t believe it’s been 25 years.
If he can make a comeback, everyone can.

Hi Colts, No Cheating!!!

Cheating didn't help Peyton against the PatriotsBrady and the Pats worked hard on Sunday Vs. the Colts“I don’t know how you measure levels of being deaf, but we couldn’t hear anything out there.”  No, it’s not a part of a war veteran memoir, nor one of a demolition expert.  This  quote belongs to New England Patriots QB Tom Brady,  talking about the crowd noise on the Sunday game in  the RCA Dome Vs. the Colts.  Yahoo! reports that The NFL is looking into allegations that the local team piped in noise during the game, to help distract opponents when the other team is on offense. From what I hear, it’s not the first time this is happening.  If one rule fits all,  the Colts should be punished  the same way  the Patriots were punished after the ridicules Spygate thing  with the Jets.

Brian Williams is not Feist did well on SNL, next week it's Amy Winehouse turn

Brian Williams did a very good job as the host of Saturday Night Live. He’s got an excellent sense of timing, and together with a natural acting skill, he was very amusing. On the musical side, it was Feist, who gave an interesting and solid performance. During the show It was announced that next week musical guest will be Amy Winehouse. Well, It’s a whole week from now, and with our Amy… It’s still a long way to go, and you can never tell what’s gonna happen in so many days…

Amy, just show up will you?

Give Bees A Chance- Bee MovieJerry Seinfeld is in the news again. If it’s his new Bee Movie, his wife’s new cooking book, the release of Seinfeld’s season 9 on DVD, or the controversy about promoting Bee Movie at McDonald’s, Jerry is back. And it’s good because no one is funny anymore (with the exception of The Office of course…) Jerry showed us all and especially all those comedian wannabes what distinguish him from others in his speech when he got the first  HBO Comedian Award last April.
So, Bee Movie premiers tonight. If you want you can catch it everywhere, on my end I think I’ll just wait for the DVD…

Heather Mills Fights Back

Heather bites backIf you’ve been watching any of Heather Mills’ interviews in the last 48 hours, you probably notice a major tone change. No more ignoring the media’s bad mouthing of her, or the acceptance of the lurking Paparazzi now she decided to fights back. And what’s a better way to fight back then to through all the blame and responsibility on her soon to be husband? “Please protect me,” she said she asked Paul McCartney, and if he did: “It could have all been over, and done with very, very quietly.” Said the ex Dancing With The Stars contestant.
She also say she is not a gold digger, and the divorce issues are all about their little daughter. I am the first to agree that the media has a major part in destroying our dear celebrities’ lives, but Heather Mills should have known what she is getting into when she married a public figure in the magnitude of McCartney.
